Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and 墨墨中文 Mòmò Chinese when you use the app. We have kept them short and plain. By using Mòmò, you agree to them.

Using Mòmò

Mòmò is a comprehensible-input Mandarin learning app: you study real sentences, generate and review cards, and a spaced-repetition system helps you remember them. The app is currently invite-only and offered as a beta, which means features may change and occasional issues are expected.

Your account

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure, since anyone who can receive your code can sign in. Please give us accurate information, and let us know if you think someone else has accessed your account. You must be old enough to enter into this agreement in your country (generally at least 16), or have appropriate consent.

Your content

You keep ownership of the cards, decks, notes, and other content you create or import ("your content"). You grant us the limited permission needed to store, display, sync, and process it so the app can work for you, including sending relevant text to our AI and audio providers to generate results you have asked for. You are responsible for having the right to use any content you import, and for making sure it does not break the law or these terms.

AI-generated content

Some features use AI to generate example sentences, translations, explanations, and audio. AI can be wrong or produce awkward or incorrect language. Please treat AI output as a helpful draft, not a guaranteed authority, and use your own judgement, especially for anything important.

Teachers and students

If you use the teacher features, you control what you share and with whom through the in-app link scopes, and you can change or revoke sharing at any time. If you connect with a teacher or student, you agree to use each other's shared information only for learning and teaching within Mòmò, and to respect each other's privacy.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

• break the law, infringe others' rights, or upload harmful, abusive, or illegal content;
• try to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the app or other users' data;
• abuse the AI, audio, or email features, or attempt to get around usage limits;
• resell or redistribute the service without our permission.

We may limit, suspend, or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk.

Fees

Mòmò is free during the current beta. If we introduce paid plans, we will make the pricing and terms clear before you are charged, and these terms will be updated accordingly.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Mòmò available and to protect your data, but we cannot promise the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these terms. When we make a significant change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Mòmò after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Ending your use

You can stop using Mòmò and delete your account at any time from Settings, under Data & backup. Deleting your account removes your account and learning data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers and liability

Mòmò is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Subject to those rights, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any) in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections in your own country.
